  Tajikistan's national currency is the Somoni, which is freely convertible to other currencies and back .Tajikistan’s economy is based on cash and therefore international banking services are limited, but ATM’s now appear in many of various locations. Local ATM’s offer both US Dollars and Tajik Somoni.  Brand new branch hotels and a few other establishments in the country accept credit cards but acceptance of traveler's checks is limited. 

Currency

  Tajik Somoni (TJS) = 100 diram. Notes are in denominations of 100, 50, 20, 10, 5 and coins 1, and 50, 20 and 5 diram.

Currency Exchange

  US Dollars, Euros and Russian Rubles can be freely changed in banks and exchange offices. All bills are settled in TJS but other currencies like USD, Euro and Rubles also can be accepted but agree the exchange rate in advance. The notes in denomination of 1, 5, 10, 20 and notes older 1996 a subject for reduced exchange rate or even refuse.

Credit/Debit Cards and ATMs

  Limited acceptance within Dushanbe and Khudjent.

Traveller's Cheques

  Not accepted.

  Mon-Fri 0800-1700.
